SERVICES

Dr. Gavrila's state-of-the-art Chino practice provides comfortable patient care with the latest in dental delivery systems. The available treatment options range from routine preventive care to comprehensive restorative and cosmetic procedures. Among the dental services in which Dr. Gavrila and her staff are licensed, certified and trained are:
Interdisciplinary Restorative and Reconstructive Dentistry. This comprehensive and complete approach to dentistry allows us to treat patients based on their wants with a precise sequence of treatment. Information gathering may include: full mouth digital x-rays, diagnostic models, photography and bite analysis. Dr. Gavrila individually spends hours studying and working on these records and together, with her interdisciplinary team, is then able to prepare a treatment plan specifically designed to achieve your personal dental health goals. Dr. Gavrila maintains close contact with and monitoring of all interdisciplinary care which may include any or all of the following: orthodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, hygiene therapy and physical therapy.
TMJ. Used as a means to end a cycle of pain, muscle spasms and joint imbalance where the jaw meets the skull, "temporo-mandibular joint" (TMJ) treatment can include specially created joint and/or bite appliances, as well as bite adjustments through appropriate restorative procedures, all with the purpose of restoring balance and lessening joint discomfort. Moist heat, anti-inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxants, muscle massage and/or a soft diet may be recommended as part of your comprehensive TMJ treatment. For more details about TMJ related treatment, give us a call to schedule a consultation appointment.
Tooth Colored Restorations. Tooth colored restorations not only fix the problems associated with decay, cracked or broken teeth, or worn out old dentistry, they are a natural looking fix too. They are custom colored to precisely match your teeth or desired shade. No one will ever know! No more unsightly black, silver or gold in your mouth. Tooth colored restorations can include: fillings, inlays, onlays and full-coverage crowns.
Tooth Colored Fillings (Composites)-silver and gold fillings used to be the only choices for restoring small cavities but advances in dental materials have created strong new synthetic tooth-colored restorative materials that help you look your best. Because composites are bonded in place, the treatment is more conservative (removal of less tooth structure), so you retain more of your natural, healthy tooth.
Tooth Colored Crowns-crowns are the recommended treatment when the amount of tooth structure involved, via decay, disease, cracks, etc., cannot be successfully treated with just a filling. Based on the amount of tooth structure involved, a crown will either be an inlay, onlay or full-coverage crown. All tooth-colored crowns are custom-made, typically with porcelain to match your surrounding teeth. Crowns not only repair and strengthen a damaged tooth, they can also be used to improve your appearance by covering a discolored or misshapen tooth.
Implants. Used primarily as a permanent replacement for missing teeth, these small titanium cylinders are surgically inserted into the bone, covered with a natural looking restoration and thus provide the best possible structural and facial support. Surrounding teeth are not affected and bone levels are preserved. When a tooth is lost, opposing teeth shift and when a tooth no longer has anything to chew against it can come out of its socket. Implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, multiple teeth or a full set of dentures. For more details about implants and whether they might be a viable option for you, give us a call to schedule a consultation appointment.
Veneers. Used to permanently brighten smiles, straighten crooked or misshapen teeth, fix chipped, cracked or broken front teeth, permanently whiten stained or dark teeth or improve one's "bite", these thin shells of porcelain are fabricated with the help of a dental laboratory. Once in place, veneers virtually become part of the teeth. You can use them like you would your own teeth because the bond is extremely strong. Your final result is a more beautiful, natural-looking new smile. For more details about veneers or to investigate whether you are a candidate for veneers, give us a call to schedule a consultation appointment.
Bleaching (Tooth Whitening). Used to brighten and whiten teeth that have darkened or yellowed from food, coffee, age, tobacco and wine, the bleaching process begins with an office consultation to evaluate if bleaching is a viable option for your teeth. Both in-office and at-home teeth whitening is available. The results of bleaching are temporary and will last from one to five years, depending on your lifestyle, thus periodic touch-ups are required to maintain desired whiteness. For more details about bleaching options and what might work best for you, give us a call to schedule a consultation appointment.
Comprehensive Preventive Hygiene Care and Treatment. Used to minimize problems and restore oral health, our comprehensive preventive hygiene care and treatment programs reduce the need for dental care in the future, meaning you have fewer dental appointments, less time off of work, less discomfort and less money spent on dental care over your lifetime.
Comprehensive hygiene care can include: taking x-rays, measuring the depth of periodontal pockets, evaluating/re-evaluating the effectiveness of home care, removing plaque above and below the gumline, treating/re-treating with scaling and root planing as necessary to maintain optimal tissue health.
When appropriate our comprehensive preventive hygiene care and treatment programs may also include the use of dental laser technology. Treatment with the laser minimizes swelling, bleeding, speeds healing of gum tissue and reduces infection. The use of the laser is quiet, gentle, requires little or no anesthesia, and can be used on soft tissue to reshape gum tissue, remove diseased gum tissue, and clean and decontaminate pockets. Additionally the laser can be used for quick healing of lesions such as cold sores and to reduce bleeding.
Statistically, it is estimated that 80% of adults have periodontal disease (mild to severe)--often undiagnosed or undetected. Studies have also concluded that periodontal disease is a contributor to heart disease. A healthy mouth can also mean a healthy body.
Through our commitment to optimum dental health and our success with prevention and proactive care, Dr. Gavrila's patients experience one of the lowest rates of periodontal disease and related dental problems.
Periodontal disease, an infection of the teeth, gums and the bone that surround the teeth, begins when plaque, the sticky film of food and bacteria, builds up. Removing plaque, tartar and bacteria are crucial to controlling periodontal disease. If not removed, plaque hardens into tartar. The buildup of plaque and tartar are the main contributors to periodontal disease and result in the deepening of the spaces between the teeth and gum (commonly called pockets). Left unchecked, periodontal disease leads to, among other things, bone loss and tooth loss.
When periodontal disease is first diagnosed, we treat it with ultrasonic and hand scaling, and root planing to remove plaque and infection from beneath the gum. Ultrasonic scaling is one of the most effective procedures for treating periodontal disease and with less discomfort.
Additionally, to help control, minimize and/or eliminate, periodontal disease we use "Arestin™". Arestin™ is a powdered antibiotic that releases a controlled, steady flow of medication for up to 21 days.
Consistency and frequency of periodic care helps break the stronghold of bacteria in the mouth, minimizing the recurrence of infection and slowing or eliminating its destructive effects.
